Spring Pond

In Summer 2005 we dug into the natural spring existing on this block to open it up and developed an extensive head around the spring. During Winter 2005 the spring water backed up to create a very marshy area amongst the rushes, creating a great habitat for all kinds of water-loving wildlife. Now, this spring supplies water to the large pond created in Summer 2006 partly seen in the upper right hand corner of this pic (see 'Lake Pohangina' from aerial view damsite block).
